Defeating Dessous

Dessous' Magic/Ranged attack.
Dessous has both a melee attack and a ranged/magic attack. The ranged/magic attack will hit constant 50s but using protect from ranged works. When using protect from ranged Dessous will use his melee attack which can hits around 160-180, so food is a must. Eat a piece of food when you are down 250 LP from normal (e.g., a player with 750 lifepoints would eat when his/her health is 500). A common mistake made by players whilst fighting Dessous is to panic and run around looking for a better spot. This should not be attempted, because if you try to find a spot, he'll teleport right next to you. If you make him teleport more than three times, he says "I'm tired of playing with you" and returns back inside the coffin, You will have to go back to malak for fresh blood but the other steps are already finished.
Bring 5 prayer potions, the Ectophial or teleportation tabs, possibly some druid pouches, and fill your remaining inventory with good food, monkfish or better. If things are looking bad, teleport out, restock, and try again.

A good strategy for those with 62 magic and 43 prayer would be to use protect from melee, and wind wave. Bring monkfish for food; you won't eat them all and you won't need prayer potions, your points should never fall below 12 if you're wearing monk's robes. You must constantly check your stats, for this boss drains combat stats (Attack, Strength, Magic, and Range). If you do not bring many of these potions, you will be hitting 0s by the end of the fight.

Note: The ghasts that infest the Haunted Woods will turn your food into Rotten food if they land a hit on you. While the ghasts miss quite often, a druid pouch can be helpful. Think about bringing Saradomin Brews instead of sharks if you have not completed In Aid of the Myreque. These will not be affected by Ghasts.

Note: The Darklight special will help reduce Dessous's defence hence making the fight easier.
